Acupuncture 

Acupuncture is a 3000 year old method of treatment that originated in ancient China. The principles of acupuncture are to restore balance and regulate the free flow of Qi pronounced (chee) & blood in the body. Theoretically if qi and blood are flowing harmoniously pain an disease should not occur. Acupuncture is performed by having filiform (very thin non-hollow) needles inserted into specific acupuncture points.  Every acupuncture point has a job/function and is chosen by your acupuncturist with a specific goal in mind.

Its important to point out that there is no such thing as a magic needle. Only a good Acupuncturist who can diagnose and treat you properly.

Cupping

Cupping is a soft tissue technique that targets healing in the places that need it most! This method uses fire that is introduced into the cup before its placed on the skin (no burning or heat is felt on skin surface). This sucking up sensation, lifts the muscular tissue to open up the vascular system and allows for new blood and Qi to circulate to the area. This also helps reduce inflammation, break up scar tissue/adhesions and increase lymphatic drainage.

Tui-na 

Our tui-na/ medical massage sessions focus on healing the whole body rather than a specific condition. This is an ancient form of Chinese medical massage employs a variety of techniques such as rolling, kneading, pressing and rubbing to encourage the movement of energy, emotion, and blood flow. This pressurized movement promotes healing and relaxes muscles to alleviate pain. .

Moxa - Moxabustion 

Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy that predates acupuncture by 500 years. This treatment uses a therapeutic burning agent called "Moxa" commonly known as Mugwort (Artemisia Vulgaris) that is burned on or very near the skin's surface. The intention is to "warm" and invigorate the flow of Qi in the body, boost immunity, increase circulation, and dispel certain pathogenic influences.

Auriculotherapy

Auriculotherapy (also auricular therapy, ear acupuncture, and auriculoacupuncture) is a form of acupuncture that applies the microsystem of the body, represented on the auricle, or the outer portion of the ear. Conditions affecting the patient's physical, mental or emotional health are assumed to be treatable by stimulating the surface of the ear exclusively.

Gua-sha

A mild form of myofascial release using a special implement in a scraping motion over a ligament in order to apply friction to the skin, often times along the meridian channels. This scraping motion produces a mild petechial response that releases unhealthy blood stasis, detoxifies toxins, promotes metabolic cellular repair, increasing oxygen saturation and relieves hypertonicity and pain. This technique boosts circulation, encourages lymphatic drainage, and assist in breaking up knots and nodules that can sometimes interfere with optimal circulation, leading to pain, discomfort, tension, and tightness in the body's muscles.

Hot Stone Massage

Dry Needling 

Dry needling is a term acupuncturist use to describe the use of acupuncture needles that are inserted and then removed from targeted trigger points. During a dry needling treatment, your acupuncturist will insert acupuncture needles into trigger points with the goal to cause a muscle contraction. This muscle contraction can reset the muscle to a more relaxed state. Dry needling is done to help reduce pain/stiffness & improve range of motion.
